School of Rock (formerly known as The Paul Green School of Rock Music) is a music education program which operates and franchises after-school music instruction programs in the United States, Canada, South America, South Africa, Mexico, Australia and the Philippines. School of Rock currently has 260 open locations in nine countries serving more than 40,000 students.

We have programs for every age and skill level: Little Wing is designed for our youngest students (mainly 3 to 5-year-olds). This program for toddlers and preschoolers features a special curriculum where students play games and participate in interactive activities to help them internalize the foundational skills they will use as their musical abilities grow. Little Wing students have one weekly group lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics through play.

Our Rookies program is designed for children (typically 6 to 7-year-olds) with no previous musical experience. As with all our music programs, Rookies adheres to School of Rock's core philosophy—performance-based music education is the best way for students to gain musical proficiency. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they are able to decide which one they are passionate about pursuing in Rock 101.

Students who graduate from Rookies, or children 8-13 years old who are new to School of Rock, are typically placed in our Rock 101 program. Rock 101 is School of Rock’s main program for kids and beginners. It combines our core philosophy of performance-based music education with a unique curriculum designed for students with no previous musical experience. Once students have developed a core level of proficiency on their chosen instrument they are moved into our flagship class, Performance Program.

Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

School of Rock's Adult Program is for students over 18 who are looking to improve their musical proficiency, or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to perform at a live show.

Throughout the year School of Rock offers a variety of music camps and workshops. These events offer an incredible selection of experiences from beginner music camps to intermediate and advanced sessions. Our music camps often include performance boot camps, artist-themed camps, songwriting and recording, and more—there's a camp or workshop for every interest and skill level. Most music camps end with an epic live rock show performed by the campers.

The most skilled students in each school form a band, called the House Band, and play concerts in their city,. The top students from each school compete to become a member of an "All-Star" band that tours regionally. We have also expanded recently into offering career development for working bands, and "Grad School" for adult amateur musicians.

Our main goal in each of our programs is preparing students to perform concerts on stage with their friends in front of a live audience.

Business Review

What I like about this program is that my kids love it! This is so different from the music lessons that existed when I was a kid. These kids are actually making music and learning to play as a band. The performances are so impressive, and watching the kids gain confidence and express themselves on stage is priceless. -Yessim, P

The structure around how kids learn is amazing. Taking lessons to learn an instrument is one thing, but learning how to be part of a band is on another level. These kids are learning how to communicate, respect people and their opinions, and how to be accountable for themselves. It's more than just music here. -Dustie, S

The kids have a great time while learning to play. Lifelong skills and relationships are born here. The staff shares their passion for music and are very professional and accommodating. Wish I had this type of exposure to music when I was growing up! -Lori, H
